How this calculator scores your marks
It uses the IAAF Scoring Tables for Combined Events, the same ones used in official competitions. Each mark is converted into points with its formula, and the final score is the sum of all the events.
Which formulas does it use?
Track events: P = a·(b − T)c, with the time in seconds. Jumps: P = a·(M − b)c, with the mark in centimetres. Throws: P = a·(D − b)c, with the distance in metres. The result is always rounded down.
How do I enter my marks?
Times under one minute are entered in seconds (10.62) and longer ones with minutes (4:35.13). Jumps and throws are entered in metres (7.50). You can use a full stop or a comma as the decimal separator.
What is the "Manual" checkbox?
Tick it if the race was hand-timed: the calculator adds 0.24 seconds (0.14 in the 400m) before calculating, as the official tables require. It only applies to races up to 400m.
Does wind affect the points?
No. Every performance is scored the same with or without wind, and the competition ranking does not change. Wind only affects whether the result counts as an entry standard and its value in the World Rankings. I explain it in detail in the combined events guide.
Where are my results saved?
Only in your browser. They are never sent anywhere, and you can delete them whenever you like.
Are these the same as World Athletics points?
No. Combined events have their own scoring system: 900 points in a decathlon are not equivalent to 900 points in the WA tables. To compare marks across different events, use the WA points calculator.
