Install once and convert performances into World Athletics points in all your spreadsheets.
It adds three formulas to LibreOffice Calc: WA_VERSION, WA_SCORE and WA_MARK. With them you can convert any athletics performance into World Athletics points, or the other way round, and build rankings, scoresheets or comparisons between events without doing the maths by hand.
One-time payment. Instant download. Ready-made template included.
Also includes the Google Sheets version, at no extra cost.
The installation takes about a minute, and you only do it once on each computer.
In LibreOffice Calc, go to Tools → Macros → Edit Macros... and open My Macros → Standard → Module1.
Delete everything in the editor and paste the full contents of wa-scoring-tables-2025.bas.
Press Ctrl+S and close the editor. From now on, the formulas work in every spreadsheet you open.
The template doesn't contain the macro. It uses the one you install in My Macros, and that's exactly what makes this version so convenient: once it's installed, the functions work in every spreadsheet on your computer, new or old, with no security warnings and nothing to repeat for each file.
Open WA Scoring Tables 2025 - Template.ods, type the event and the mark, and WA_SCORE does the rest. It's the formula you'll use most.
=WA_SCORE(gender; event; mark) in the template's scoresheet. The Examples tab of the template shows each formula next to the result it should give. If both columns match, everything is working. These are the real results of the macro:
| Formula | Result | Expected |
|---|---|---|
=WA_SCORE("m";"100m";9,58) | 1356 | 1356 |
=WA_SCORE("w";"800m";"1:55.30") | 1248 | 1248 |
=WA_SCORE("m";"Marathon";"2:08:00") | 1167 | 1167 |
=WA_SCORE("m";"HJ";"2,20") | 1090 | 1090 |
=WA_SCORE("m";"Decathlon";"8000") | 1126 | 1126 |
=WA_MARK("m";"100m";1400) | 9.46 | 9.46 |
=WA_MARK("w";"HJ";1000) | 1.77 | 1.77 |
=WA_VERSION() | WA 2025 | WA 2025 |
| All 13 examples in the template match. | ||
These are the three formulas the macro adds. Use them as many times as you like, in as many spreadsheets as you need.
| Function | Description |
|---|---|
=WA_VERSION() | Returns the version of the tables in use. |
=WA_SCORE(gender; event; mark) | Converts a performance into World Athletics points. |
=WA_MARK(gender; event; points) | Converts World Athletics points into the equivalent performance. |
If something isn't valid, such as an unknown event, the formula shows a message explaining why instead of a cryptic error.
Calc turns entries like 2:14.14 into a clock time. To avoid it, format the Mark column as Format → Cells → Text, or type an apostrophe first: '2:14.14. In the template, this is already done for you, and if it ever happens, the formula tells you.
This version is the reason all the others are lighter. My first libraries carried the complete scoring tables inside them: 1.7 MB of data.
When I started the LibreOffice version, that approach wasn't viable, so I had to work out the formulas behind every table, including the events that need their own exceptions.
Then I checked the result against the original, value by value, in every table, from the 50 metres to the mixed relays. Once every value matched, I took the same formulas to the rest of my products.

Yes. It uses LibreOffice Basic, which works the same on all three systems. It has been tested on LibreOffice 24.2.
No. Once it's in My Macros, it works in every spreadsheet you open on that computer. On another computer, you install it once there too.
Yes, at no extra cost. Both versions come in the same download, each in its own folder with its own instructions.
This version uses the 2025 tables and always will. When new tables are published, I'll release a new version, and previous buyers will receive a discount link. If an error is found in this version, you'll receive the correction for free.
No. It's an independent project that reproduces the official World Athletics Scoring Tables 2025. For official results, certification or claims, the official World Athletics publication always prevails.
